The Hibiscus Coast

On the KZN lower South Coast lies a region rich in tropical foliage, bright sunshine and beautiful surroundings, aptly named the Hibiscus Coast.

It is about an hour from Durban and encompasses a 12km route from Shelly Beach in the north to Ramsgate in the south including St. Michaels-on-sea, Uvongo, Manaba Beach and Margate - a collection of holiday towns and quaint villages merged to create South Africa's favourite holiday destination mecca.

It offers everything from a host of golden world class Blue Flag beaches, perpetually warm weather year round, a wide variety of cuisine and entertainment, to a wide selection of activities from whale watching to shark diving at sea, or from hiking to bungi jumping on land. Set amongst subtropical forests, lagoons and rivers, spectacular gorges and grassy slopes, offset by the warm Indian ocean, this is the ideal setting for a holiday getaway for both the adrenalin junkie or the very laid back.

Host to the Sardine Run followed by dolphins, sharks, whales and thousands of sea birds, the Harley Davidson Bike Week spectacle and revolving beach events, there is never a dull moment on the Hibiscus Coast. A fantastic family destination, the immediate area offers various snake parks, crocodile farms, bird and butterfly aviaries apart from the amazing beaches manned by shark nets and lifesavers for your comfort, plus arcades, cinemas and amusement parks.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday, an adrenalin filled escapade, or a wining, dining, clubbing and pubbing shindig, the Hibiscus Coast offers it all, and more.
